Special Equestrians
UPDATED: April 18, 2019
Special Equestrian’s experiential equine-assisted include mounted and unmounted activities with direct interaction with the horses in the arena, as well as life skill/employment readiness activities connected to caring for horses and maintaining the stabling facility. In our therapeutic riding programs, participants learn riding skills, as well as other life skills: self-confidence, responsibility, partnership/teamwork, and communication. In our unmounted programs, participants work with horses in activities on the ground that encourage teamwork, responsibility, leadership, empathy, and behavior modulation as horses interact and respond to cues from participants and volunteer companions. In our horse-welfare and stable-care program, participants work on following directions, developing independence, and problem solving.
